Paper Bag Day

Paper Bag Day is observed every year on July 12th . It is a day to spread awareness about using paper bags instead of plastics .

The adverse impacts of plastic bags on the environment have led to the use of paper bags . Plastic takes years to decompose, whereas paper bags can be reduced and are recyclable .

In 1852 , an American inventor named Francis Wolle established the first paper bag machine . Later in 1871 Margaret E Knight developed another machine that produced flat - bottom paper bags .She became popular as ‘the mother of the grocery bag ‘.
